Propogation of an Electromagnetic Wave

Wait until it is loaded, then click to start the applet

This java applet shows the relation between electric fields, magnetic fields, and the wave vector when the electromagnetic wave propogates through space.

  1. Red arrow Blue arrow Green arrow
    Electric field E Magnetic field B Velocity vector of wave V
    fixed Click near tip of B
    then drag the mouse    		 keep V X B = E
  2. Press the start Button, and the electromagnetic wave will propogate.
    1. Press the LEFT mouse button to pause the animation.
    2. Press the RIGHT mouse button and drag the mouse to change the viewing angle.
  4. Press the Reset button to reset
