Initial Operation: Safety Mechanisms

Safety Interlock-A receptacle labeled INTERLOCK on the back of the control panel chasis (magnetic field control) is provided to interlock the high voltage supply to other equipment or safety protective devices. The terminals of the receptacle must be short-circuited before the high voltage supply can be energized.

Magnetic Coil Thermostat-The magnetic focus coil's thermostat (used only for electron beam tube experimments)is a normally closed switch which opens if the magnet becomes overheated (160 F). This should normally be defeated for dielectric breakdown experiments or whenever electron beam tubes will not be used.
