RESEARCH
Mineralogy, environmental geochemistry, and
geomicrobiology. Research involves
study of reactions at mineral surfaces, with emphasis on the nature of
interactions between microorganisms and minerals and the impact of microorganisms
on silicate and sulfide mineral dissolution reactions. Related research focuses on the
thermodynamics and kinetic behavior of nanocrystalline materials produced by
biomineralization and mineral weathering (structure, phase stability, crystal
growth kinetics, morphology evolution, microstructure development).
