High Voltage Power Supply
The Model 3230 Reversible Polarity Power Supply consists of a standard
rack-mounted control panel and an oil-insulated power supply rectifier tank.
It is capable of supplying 35 kV dc at 10 mA and has a surge current rating
of 50 mA.
- Safety Lock Switch:
- Provides Locked OFF condition to prevent unauthorized use.
- Main Power On Circuit Breaker Switch:
- Controls the power for the entire Control Panel and is in series with
Safety Lock Switch.
- Zero H. V. Control Indicator:
- A red neon lamp lights when the High Voltage Control is not zeroed and
an attempt is made to energize the high voltage circuit.
- Interlock Open Lamp:
- An amber neon lamp lights when the external interlock circuit is open
and the Power Supply is ON (Main Power On).
- Kilovolts Meter:
- This meter indicates charging voltage at the Oil-Insulated H. V.
Power Supply Rectifier Tank.
- Milliamperes Meter:
- This meter indicates charging current at the Oil-Insulated H. V.
Power Supply Recitifier Tank.
- Kilovltmater Range Switch:
- A three-position switch which allows range sitching of the Kilovolts Meter
to Low, Medium or High.
- Output Polarity Switch:
- This switch operates the reversing relay in the H. V. Power Supply
and switches the polarity of the meters and over-voltage control diodes
in the Control Panel to match the output selected. A Shunted Meter position
is provided for use when the system is being transported.
- Circuit Breaker Closed Indicator:
- An amber neon lamp will light, indicating that the Main Power On switch
has been closed.
- Circuit Breaker Open Indicator:
- A clear neon lamp will light, briefly, indicating that the Main Power
On switch is open.
- Negative and Positive Polarity Lamps:
- An amber neon lamp will light, giving visual indication to confirm
that the Output Polarity switch is closed in the position desired.
- Milliammeter Range Switch:
- A three-position switch allowing range switching of the Milliammeter
to Low, Medium or High.
- High Voltage Control:
- The High Voltage Control is provided with a 0-100 logging scale.
Advancing the control clockwise increases the high voltage output from
the supply.
- High Voltage-Off Switch:
- Push-button switch de-energizes the high voltage circuit "crow-bars" the
high voltage output.
- High Voltage-Off Indicator:
- A green High Voltage-Off lamp indicates when the high voltage circuit
is not energized.
- High Voltage-On Switch:
- Push-button switch energizes the high voltage circuit when pressed.
- High Voltage-On Indicator:
- A red High Voltage-On lamp indicates that the high voltage circuit
has been energized.
At the back of the Panel:
- Warning Device Receptacle(non-polarized):
- This receptacle supplies 120 V ac FOR EXTERNAL SAFETY EQUIPMENT when
the High Voltage primary circuits are energized.
- Overcurrent Trip Adjust:
- This potentiometer sets the tripout current level for protection of
the High Voltage Power Supply Rectifier Tank.
-
- Do not turn the H.V. Power Supply Control Panel OFF with the Safety Lock
when the Pulser if charged. Permanent Damage to the Power Supply Transformer
may result from transient currents. When the High Voltage Power Supply
Control Panel's current meter is placed in the low range position, the
Model 705 System should not be operated. The subsequent current surge could
result in damage to the current meter.
