HIBP run. No signals were found. Eb ~ 55keV, Ib was thought to be ~ 20uA

May-04-2000

1. New magnetic field model was used to calculate the trajectories. Eb ~ 65keV

2. HIBP run. No signals were found

3. Make a parameters scanning table to follow in the next few days.

May-05-2000

1. HIBP run. Ib is getting smaller ~ 10uA. No signals were found

2. Change ion source to #1. Heat at 1A overnight

May-06-2000

1. Test the new ion source. Starts emitting at 3.5A. Current on the shutter is ~ 200-250uA w/o bias. But only ~ 10uA with bias. Don't know why!

2. HIBP run. Initial Ib ~ 30uA, later in the day, ~ 10uA. No signals were found.

May-08-2000

Paul Schoch and John Schatz showed up.

May-09-2000

1. Check BPM aperture, took off the aperture plate. Found beam stain on the 3rd quadrant of the BPM

2. Test the ione source, record the readings from the glassman power supplies.

May-10-2000

1. Change the ion source to # 6

2. Change the extractor to the 6.2mm aperture

3. Test of the new ion source.

4. Preliminary alignment of the accelerator. Found that if align the accelerator so that the fiducial mark of the BPM is at the center of the beam, the accelerator will be tilted too much. A lot of the beam is hitting on the sweep plates.

May-11-2000

FIRST DAY SEEING THE SECONDARIES !!! Details...

1. The beam energy was set to be 70keV

2. The plasma current is about 410 kA.

3. The primary sweep: 'T' amplitude small, freq. ~ 1000Hz. 'R' amplitude large, freq.~100Hz

4. The secondary 'T' sweep, 2nd set, freq. ~ 5kHz, amplitude small.
