Project 2, Spring 2008
Project 2: Beakman's Motor
Note that the specifications for this project have been tightened up, with fewer tasks required. It is still worth reading all the information posted in the past, but you only need do what is described in this semester's write-up. Also note that you may use any kind of springs, including wires held by one of the team members. It is not necessary to operate the motor hands-off this time. While the grade on the project does depend, in part, on how fast your motor turns, you are no longer in competition for grades. Performance grades are based on meeting speed goals, not on how fast your motor turns relative to your classmates' motors. (These goals are based on motor performance from spring 2006.) There is one exception in that the fasted three motors will receive a small amount of extra credit. However, you are all encouraged to share your good ideas and to help one another do better. Finally, be sure you take careful data and fully annotate the performance of your motor.Project 1, Spring 2008
Project 1: RF Notch Filter (aka Channel Blocker)
Specific project information is posted on the Handout page. Note that there are items to be handed in each time there is a Wednesday session dedicated to the design project. Most of the submissions should be done electronically.Analysis tools: Design with PSpice , Cable Frequencies for Campus Cable (2008 version), and Design with Matlab, 75 Ohm Matlab Analysis M-File (download by right clicking on the file name). Information on the cable we obtained from Time Warner can be found on the Supplementary Materials Webpage near the bottom under Cable TV Information.
Extra Credit Project: Paperclip Launcher (optional)
