al engineering students and is available from VarsityBooks.com for $99.
(2) Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering by Leonard Bobrow of UMass is intended for a first course in electrical engineering and
is available from several online stores for $95.
Graded Work
Following long-standing traditions, topical quizzes will be graded on a 100 point scale while homework, experiments, and project reports will be graded according to the percentage of the overall course grade. Practical quizzes are graded on a credit/no
credit basis.
Schedule
Please Note That This Schedule And The Materials Posted Will Change Weekly. The pdf files for each of the experiments, projects and homework assignments will be posted below about the same time as
paper copies will be distributed in class. If you would like to get an advanced look at any experiment, consult last semester's syllabus.
Week One (1/14-1/18): Introduction to studio instrumentation: function generator, dc power supplies, protoboards, components, digital multimeter, oscilloscope. Introduction to PSpice.
Week Two (1/21-1/25): Continue to address topics of Week One and address some basic concepts from circuits and electronics.
Week Three (1/28-2/1): Continue Week Two topics and move on to time varying circuits.
Week Four (2/4-2/8): Complete instrumentation and the introduction to passive circuits and begin work on operational amplifiers
Week Five (2/11-2/15): Define and work on the first project.
Week Six (2/18-2/22): AC Steady State & Filters
Week Seven (2/25-3/1): Diodes
Week Eight (3/4-3/8): Complete passive circuits and the introduction to op-amps and diodes,
then move on to other mostly analog active devices before we transition to digital electronics.
Week Nine (3/18-3/22): Project 2
Due Date: 11 April
Week Eleven (3/25-3/29):Complete transitional electronics and begin project 3.
